Night train 2025 –
How can wagon interiors be designed to be attractive and future-proof?
Going to bed in Munich and waking up well-rested in Rome the next day – a night train is the ideal solution for environmentally conscious traveling.
In a teamwork with two colleagues, we made it our goal to develop a feasible night train concept for the year 2025, which makes the trip as uncomplicated, safe and pleasant as possible.

With the 35°- night train you travel both pleasantly and efficiently. The double-decker car offers space for as many passengers as possible. There is a unified medium-high standard. No division into different classes and no additional services reminiscent of hotel standards. The transportation is in the foreground.
Because the majority of train passengers travel alone, we have designed the interior accordingly: A row of 1-person modules in an open space concept offers passengers privacy, safety and a feel-good atmosphere.

The module consists of a seat, a sleeping surface with pillow and mattress that can be folded into a table during the day, a light,
a table with a drink holder and storage space for luggage.

Safety due to the public
Instead of closed compartments, we chose a semi-open room concept. This ensures that women, in particular, are sheltered from harassment and assault by the general public without having to forfeit their privacy.

Privacy while sleeping
A semi-high curved wall between the modules provides cave-like coziness. While sleeping with their heads facing the window people are protected from the glances of people passing by due to the 35° angle of the modules.
