A few years ago, I thrifted a blue fleece half-zip sweater and wore it a lot. Naturally, I had to try making one myself.
I traced the blue sweater to create paper pattern pieces for the front, back, sleeves, and collar. Then I cut the pieces from a brown sweatshirt fabric and sewed them together. I added an elastic band with a cord stopper on each side at the hem. In the end, I also shortened the original blue sweater using the same type of hem, since it had been a bit too long for me.
This half-zip sweater was a relatively simple piece to sew because of its loose fit. Still, it looks quite professional, and I wear it regularly.
During the finishing process, I had some trouble attaching the collar, as not all the pieces aligned perfectly. That’s why I made a few adjustments to the paper pattern so it will work even better next time.
