Solarpalooza

Embrace Solar Harvest
Solarpalooza is a zero-energy festival concept designed to make solar energy and photovoltaic technology tangible, fostering optimism in the face of the climate crisis. This speculative yet realistic scenario turns a solar farm into a vibrant celebration entirely powered by the sun. Visitors experience the energy of sunlight physically and emotionally, as the volume of the music and the lights dynamically respond to solar intensity. A functional prototype of a DJ desk, powered by a solar panel, uses a microcontroller to read sunlight voltage and regulate sound and lighting accordingly.

Brief

„[We live in the days,] when stars rain down free sunlight and free energy.“

– Dr. Michelle Thaller, NASA astronomer

„All natural energy – except for deep geothermal, nuclear, and tidal energy – originates from the sun.“

– Dr. Michael Sterner

How can an interactive experience make the sun our primary energy source and the technology of photovoltaics tangible, in order to spread optimism during the climate crisis?
