Staying Awake in a New Era This speculative monument was developed as part of the project brief “Monuments of the Future” and was exhibited at the main square of Angewante Festival 2025. The scenario: in 2065, nuclear fusion has become a reality—clean, unlimited energy powers the planet. The installation responds to this imagined breakthrough with a symbolic structure: a glowing, inflatable torus floats above a solid yellow platform. Its shape references fusion reactors, while pulsing LED lights simulate circulating particles inside.
The monument celebrates scientific progress, but also asks what this abundance might cost us. With limitless energy, consumption feels effortless—but does that make us more responsible, or more indifferent?
Visitors can enter the grounded platform beneath the torus, creating a space for reflection: on power, acceleration, and the risks of ignoring limits. TheDawn of Fusion invites us to stay awake in a future of glowing promises—to celebrate what we achieve, but also to question what we take for granted.
